Greenpeace USA commissioned Garfinkel + Associates to research and write a cover story for its membership magazine. The topic was daunting, the scope sweeping: an assessment of the planet’s environmental health at the turn of the millennium.

We conceived the “Checkup for the Planet” theme and story structure to underscore the subject’s urgency and present the vital statistics in a concise, accessible format. Blending our own research with extensive information from Greenpeace, we examined each of the organization’s key focus areas while adhering to a strict word count and a tight deadline.
