When we wrote this 36-page report, the movement to place comprehensive health centers in schools was young and controversial. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation had funded the creation of 18 centers across the country, and as the funding cycle drew to a close, the Foundation wanted a publication to:

• tell the story of the grantees’ success
• persuade other funders to support the movement
• inspire the launch of new centers
• provide pragmatic guidance to anyone launching a center

G+A conducted extensive on-site research and interviewed numerous program participants to write the report. The final product – a well-paced and highly readable publication – became the gold standard for the school-based health center movement. It was reprinted several times and distributed nationwide.
